Recommendations for Ebay Sellers

Buying eggs on ebay is always a crap-shoot. There are reputable breeders who list on there but I wouldn't expect anything 'great' from ebay eggs.

If you don't see any listings on the BYC auction thread for the breed(s) you're looking for, search through the archives or even through the forum for people who breed the types you are looking for. Many of them have eggs to sell, they just don't advertise them on here or not when you are looking

Also, check with breed clubs, especially if you are looking for birds to show. You'd have a much better chance of getting 'quality' eggs if you go through a breed club.

The pictures are not necessarily 'stolen'. Ebay has an archive of photos, even for hatching eggs, that you can use someone else's pic to sell your item. If you load a pic on ebay, it becomes fair game to other sellers. That's why it's wise to watermark all your photos.

I ordered BA eggs from the below seller:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300522270024&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I do not believe (IMHO) the problems people have are really with the sellers; I feel that if you order online you have to lower your expected hatch rate. Even though the eggs from the seller were well packed - two still arrived cracked and 3 never started to develop and 2 stopped after a couple days. However, I have 5 in the incubator that I just candled and there was clear movement at day 11. So I paid for 10 eggs, they shipped 12, two broke in shipping, 5 flopped, and 5 are still progressing so as of today I am at 50%. I am happy with that considering it is obvious the eggs received such rough handling during shipping.

But I will admit from now on I'll by my eggs from local sources (unless its a breed that I can't find local); I have a dozen or order from a fellow BYCer.

Yes. But the problem is that they are using the pictures to falsify represent their actual birds.

True, which is bad for 'us'...but in ebay's mind it's not stealing. False representation, yes, stealing, no

To the OP: I could give you a few suggestions of who not to get eggs from but I don't know about the 'good' ones
