Recommendations on raising up food and water in brooder

Hello! I have raised several chicks now over the years but I have yet to master how to keep their water and food cleaner than I have in the past. Does anyone have recommendations on how to raise them? I use a large black horse trough water tub for my brooder. I have used small pieces of 2x4s in the past hut I just don’t feel it gets them up enough to keep the shavings out. Help! Pics welcome! Thank you

This worked. It is a plastic flower pot - the shallow version that I think was meant to be planted directly but I used under pots to catch overflow from watering -after the checks were done with it.

Chicks are about a week old or a little more in the picture.

I use bricks for everything, so a few bricks would be my choice. Or otherwise I just grab some scrap wood and "float" the feeder or waterer on the surface of the bedding, but a brick would definitely elevate it a bit better.

I use bricks, concrete blocks, cut-off pieces of 2x4, etc.

Whatever works for the height I need and is stable enough to not be easily knocked over.

i use 2 things a metal pan the same way @saysfaa said and i use the method of 2 2X4s lol
i put them stacked f.y.i
