Offer to the birds later in the day. Wet mash, oatmeal like consistency.
If I'm leaving for a weekend, I'll make double that, in several buckets - one by each of three feeding stations, and leave it for my wife to scoop out and feed the birds. In my climate, the first day, its wet mash. The second day, its half sour. The third day, its fermented feed.
...and if I'm in a rush, yeah. Add dry feed, add water to cover, stir to combine. Feed.
