Recurring Tapeworms

Hi guys. Sorry me again.
I went to the pet shop and they have 2 different Equimax paste. Which one would be best for tapeworm in chickens?
One has ivermectin + praziquantel.

Get the top one. Dose is 0.09 ml per pound of body weight. For those that live in the US, not that this Equimax is a different formulation than ours, so the dose is different!

Crap I got the bottom one. I saw a fb posh about someone who gave the bottom one... does it make a big difference?

It has a pyrantel drug in it, and I think one of pyrantels (tartrate I think) is toxic to chickens when given with praziquantel. Since I know nothing about the drug listed on the bottom box, I thought it would be safer to go with the top one.

Praziquantel is the ingredient that will kill tapes and is in both of these, so it doesn't matter.

Did you know the combo of Praziquantel and pyrantel tartrate is toxic to chickens? I know praziquantel and Pyrantel pamoate are safe though. I don't know enough about all the different pyrantels to know if the one on that product is safe.

I would use the wormer that has the highest concentration of praziquantel in it due to the fact the OP used Avitrol which contained a lower concentration of praziquantel and it seemed that it wasnt effective enough.

Do you know if the type of pyrantel listed on the bottom tube can be given with praziquantel to chickens?

I've always used pyrantel pamoate. I've never seen the tartrate in stores. Sorry, no help with your question.

The tube in question is contains pyrantel embonate, not pyrantel pamoate. Maybe it's close enough to pyrantel pamoate that it will be fine. .

Anyway, the dose for the bottom tube is about the same, it's 0.1 ml per pound of body weight. @Louisetho2
