I finally got good photos of a chicken that has had a red bottom for a while. We tried Blue Kote as directed and the problem still persists. It looks so irritated and is usually a bright cherry red before I spray it with some microparticle colloidal silver. I noticed on her underside there is like a bald stripe. I noticed on the feathers on her legs look like there are dandruff flakes. They are almost done molting, but from what I understand, there should not be bald spots like this on them.

What do you all think this is?

I would be proactive and treat her forites and lice. Can you seperate her from the other birds for a while? If she starts growing feathers back, then you know she was picked on.

In theory, we have another smaller coop she could sleep in for the night, but we'd have to set something separate for the day. Although, we don't notice any them pecking each other often during the day so perhaps it's in the coop at night. I'll see what I can do.

Two of my hens pick at each other like this, they've both got naked butts, but now that there's a roo he tends to breakup their catfights. I agree with the idea of separating and letting her feathers grow back.

I could definitely try it tomorrow then, just gotta make sure to catch her before she goes into the coop with the others.
