I have 3 of the same one month old golden laced wyandottes who all have the same injury! I just noticed it tonight. Where their wings would touch/open on their lower back, there is a 1" or so red/blood looking area. There's no visible blood dripping but we noticed some other chicks pecking at it, of course! It looks like feathers are coming in. We seperated them tonight, all in the same box. Not sure if that was the right call but it was midnight (checking cows!) and I'll deal with it tmrw. Any suggestions asto what to do/put on/use to make it heal? It's kind of ironic how all three chicks have the exact same wound in the same place.

if the other chicks are picking on them there is usualy some thing wrong with them, how ever sometimes you can heal them, i would keep them seperated and bring them in the house if they are not already, to keep a closer eye on them. you might want to put vitamins in there water, just be sure to keep it clean and keep heat on them. i dont know of any thing to put on it for a chick but for a fully grown chick (6 months or more) i spray a coat of blu coat for dogs and horses, on it to keep the other hens from pecking it it usualy heals or passes on if it is really bad
i know this really dosent help but good luck finding better answers

Thanks, kind of helped, kind of just confirmed what i did! I seperated them into their own box in a corner of the coop. They seem to be better this morning, and I haven't noticed them pecking each other. Yet. I did just buy:
http://www.jrwatkins.com/products/5ed3ab51-8cf3-46b4-9076-74f96b3a1358/ which apparently works GREAT for chicken injuries/wounds/cuts because the taste is disgusting to each hen so they don't peck it+it heals!
Thanks for your help!
