And they're only 9 weeks old. Well, they sound a bit like a kazoo at this point. But we're in town and not supposed to have roos (we could only get non-Cornish x meaties in straight run). I was hoping they'd make it another 2 weeks till they went on their Special Vacation. I can't get their date changed at the processor. Hmph.

I'm mixing up some phytoestrogenic herbs tonight to feed them and try for making them herbal eunuchs. Or at least toning down their cockiness a bit. Any ideas how long they'll be in the 'kazoo' phase? Do Red Broilers crow very loudly?

My Cornish X's started at about that time too and I described it just like you did...Kazoos! We took them to the processor at 10 weeks and they hadn't gotten any louder or more annoying by then.

Ys, Red Broilers from Ideal. We've fed them 24% chick starter till this last bag of feed, and they've grown really well. Good little foragers, too.

It's really almost comical sounding, as crows go, and not too loud. Old Rudy Kazoo doesn't do it during the day, and I watched pretty closely yesterday. It's a comfort to know it won't get much worse. Still, I fed them a nice bowl of mash made with tofu and crumble, and they gobbled it on down. We'll see if the 'kazoo' goes up an octave...
