A friend brought fertile Australorp eggs a couple of years ago and one of the chicks was a red/buff roo. I’m new to the whole chicken thing but from what I’ve read this is quite rare? He’s the most amazing boy! Not a nasty bone in his body. I’d love your thoughts on him 🥰
Photo is of the man himself and a few of the lovely hens he’s given us. Excuse the tail, poor fella has been moulting.

:welcome Given the leg color of some of the hens, it's that there is some DNA other than Orpington in those birds. He's a beauty for sure.

Thank you ☺️ He’s in with mostly Australorps, but a couple of wyandottes and an Isa Brown too. The Australorp hens are black and blue. Could that explain the leg color of the hens? I have no idea about the color genetics of chickens but am excited to learn! He sure is, with the personality to match ☺️
