Red Chantecler Bantam Project

We already had the Buckeye bantam, so went with what we had.

However, Monday we passed this project on to another BYCer and Chantecler Fancier International breeder in Illinois. We will concentrate on our Orpingtons and the Lamonas. The children will continue with a few various breeds.

Kind of curious why did you take the route of a Buckeye and not the Rhode Island Red, was it to make the Cushion Comb?
I would think that you get close to what you are looking for by crossing a Rose Comb Red with a Dark Cornish.

I think a Rose Comb RIR mated to a Dark Cornish may work. The formula should be similar to what the White Chantecler was developed and the Buff Chantecler.
