Red egg shell color and who laid it mystery

I just had a new very small reddish egg show up yesterday and today. After washing it was more of a pink. I am trying to figure out who laid it. The pink color is in the shell itself but the bloom is almost a brick color. The size is just right for a new starting to lay duck. I haven't cracked one open yet but they candle fine with a normal look.

I have a number of older Golden 300s and 1 Swedish and 1 Buff duck. I know how all of their eggs look. The 300s all lay off cream eggs except one who lays green. The Swedish has a normal cream egg with a dark coating. The Buff lays a white egg with the air sac on the pointy end.

Never quite figured that out... anyway none of the older girls have ever laid anything like this reddish/pink one I got yesterday and today. It is true that not all of the older 300s are currently laying though due to molting and winter and such. I doubt the egg is from one of them though.

I also have 4 young females with the parents (including the drake) being 300's from Metzer farms. I have had second generation 300s before and they all laid the same looking eggs as the ones from the hatchery. I also have 1 young Muscovy who is colored with all the colors of copper pennies. All of them are young but old enough to start laying. The new egg should be from one of these five young girls is my guess.

So from what I have read Muscovies usually lay white, cream or green eggs. Anyone know of them laying pink eggs. Anyone here think its from one of the 300 second generation ducks? I don't have any other birds except geese who are locked up separate at night and it was laid in the pen during the night while they are locked up so no one else sneaked in and laid it. It has to be from a duck and most likely one of the young ones. Opinions?

300's dont breed true since they are a hybred duck......... if you allowed the drakes and ducks to breed it very well could be from the resulting off spring since their genetics would be all over the place.

That is part of why I can't be sure on who is laying the new egg. I have only had cream or green eggs from them though, either from the hatchery or second generation. We have several people here in my area with the 300s and I haven't heard of anyone getting pink shells from them. Still not knowing the actual breeds mix in them makes it hard to say that its not from one of them. I only keep the babies from them for myself as they don't breed true to the parents but I have maxed out on duck space so no more ducklings hatching for a few years probably. I am sort of hoping the pink shell is from one of my new 300 2nd gen babies though.

Today's egg was not near so pink as the first two so perhaps its color will fade like my Black Sweedish's egg did. Hers started out almost black coated and now are just a little gray. But seeing as at least some of this pink is in the shell and not just a coating I am still hoping it will stay pinkish.

I have never had a Muscovy before getting this one. Has anyone heard of any laying pink shells. Any chance its from her still?

I also have some 300s and every now and then I get a greenish tinted egg. It is very nice to see!

Having wondered which of my girls was laying which egg, I'd suggest that you give her a drop of food safe food coloring in the vent. That will essentially color code your eggs, matching them to their mother.
