Hi all. Our pet Rhode Island Red has red, peeling skin on her belly. It’s flaking and crusty. The feathers on her belly seem to be matted too. the skin and feathers everywhere else seem to be ok. She’s eating, drinking, and acting ok. Ideas on what this could be and how to help? Nothing big has changed other than we’ve been treating her for bumble foot. We know she doesn’t have mites, lice, or parasites.

Does she lay down a lot during the day?
Does she roost at night?

Could be a bit of skin irritation from laying down, nesting, etc.
When treating the bumblefoot is she getting wet underneath? Could it be from that?

I would be inclined to watch the area for a while, if it gets any worse, I would paint on some BluKote.

The only time she really lays down during the day is to dust bathe. She roosts on a high perch at night. She’s about finished with her treatment, we have her foot wrapped just to be cautious.
