red fox or racoon?

Did anything eat at it? Was it bleeding anywhere? Or does it look like it has a broken neck and no other physical injuries? I don't think any predator like a fox or coyote would be able to purposely break a chicken's neck and then just leave it there without eating it.

And a coyote or fox or raccoon wouldn't really be able to break a window very easily, even if it was a little brittle. Sounds like something a human would do......

Was the window broken out towards the exterior or in towards the floor of the coop? I ask because I *think* it's possible that frantic chickens flying around the coop trying to get away from something might have been able to break the window by flying into it.

Still no luck with finding any hidden chooks of having any of them show back up?

Twenty chickens in one fell swoop! Sounds like someone is having a church dinner. Check the area for foot prints; I bet the culprit does not have paws.

sounds like a 2 legged theif and the one with the broken neck was tryign to fly/get away and flew into the window and broke its own neck.
