On Christmas Eve my girl Shera got attacked, I watch my girls when they are free ranging but ran to the bathroom and seen the commotion going on after , I ran out fast to help her, the hawk flew off but left my girl in a bad state . She got 2 holes ripped open under her wing , a gash under her eye, a nasty knee wound and a gash down her leg. While the wounds under her wing and eye have healed nicely and the knee wound is on its way to being fully healed her leg gash has me a bit worried it has become wider and just doesn’t seem to be healing . I have used the vetercian plus spray and triple antibiotic on it. Any advice on what to do . I can try to get a better picture but she uses the leg just fine .

It may just take more time to heal. It looks deeply bruised. She also has a case of scaly leg mites, so you may want to bring her inside to soak her legs in warm soapy water (or Epsom salts water) for a bit, then dry her off. Slather some vaseline onto and rub under the scales of her legs. Rub Neosporin over the gash. The soaks may help the gash too. She is very lucky to have survived a hawk attack. Hopefully she will continue to recover.

Can scaly let mites only affect one leg I will have to reread on this topic Thank you for your response I will start her on some baths soaks tomorrow

Thank you so much ! I will continue to treat for leg mites an keep the wound clean

It looks sore for sure. I have a mite and lice spray that I love. Would you like the brand?
