That should make an interesting cross. I only know a few people with Banvelders but they really like them. Both of those breeds are on the slower end of the laying and growth, so as long as you're not looking for speed in those departments you should have some fun with it!

Glad to see you back Katy. We have not met, though I am utterly grateful you created this thread and brought such a wonderful life to it. Your birds look amazing! How has their mortality rate been past the 18month mark? I read that that was the largest issue you were combating with your line of birds.

yes, I am not fond of the new format, and have been smack dab in the middle of lambing season.. no time for goofing off online.

to answer the question yes, I believe for the most part I am past the mortality issues. this year I will be working on body size consistancy and prefered coloring (I know that matters little but I would just prefer consistant coloring). I'll get some good pics up soon as we are gearing up for breeding season. I didn't put lights on my girls this winter in an effort to get a big spring flush of eggs with the hopes of having some to share

Hello everybody.................... I know I haven't posted in awhile been busy with numerous other things as life sometimes get's in the way. I have however still been very busy with my LF Cornish and many are now laying and even my youngsters from last years hatchings are laying now. I didn't put out any lights this year and they have kicked in strong and on time, I have some in the bator now doing a fertility check. I have now began feeding for egg viability and rooster fertility................ if you can believe it I even saw the Hulk top a few hens the other day during chores. My Whites are doing just great and this springs planned hatchings has me very excited as the young Hens have really blossumed into some fine birds. Anyway I just wanted to let Y'all know I am still alive and well as are my Cornish LOL.

let's see if I can uplaod an image in this new format . . . If it works this is one of this years main breeding roos. He's 10 lbs at 20 weeks and already on the hens. He appears to be adept at the job, nice wide stance and good balance. The one with the blue lacing on his chest is his daddy who we will continue to use this year, so as you can see we are getting over the sustainable/longevity issue )))
