don't worry on my behalf about going off topic steve; I'm actually enjoying listening to both you and Al as we are all three working on the same thing from different angles. Al I will post a pic of my CXX giants tomorrow they are looking absolutely amazing.

I got all white birds (yellow when chicks) from my girls, I do get an occasional single black feather and one hen is a dirty white color as opposed to bright white. I crossed with the BCM.
The other cross I am working with is the BrahamaX Buckeye. These will be crossed back with the others . . . maybe. Going out to take a pic

this is number 1 he is 13 weeks old and weighs 9lbs

this is number 6 (I think) he is 11 weeks old and weighs 7lbs

the varied sizes are due to age differences

] I would expect red or black spots bleeding through as you are experiencing ; followed by a wide range of colors , if crossed with themseves in the next generation including near solid or solid black to solid or near solid white along with partridge and duckwing patterns . These could almost pass for a very high quality older White Rock . Congrats on producing them . By the way , how many eggs did you incubate to hatch the 15 survivers ?
ETA : I read somewhere of a third genotype of white theorized to exist that works to only nearly completely dilute all other colors instead of masking them as dominate white does . Chicks are supposedly born yellow as if dominate white , but said to sometimes show off-white or lavenderish [ which is silver-grey to my eyes ] white as they feather in .

In the last pic I have one hen that is that greyish color (we call her Dirty Girl), so maybe you're right.
The Light Brahama X Buckeye chicks are all Brahma patterened (white w black markings).
Next crossing I will put:
1. one roo from BCMxCX over 6 BxBE hens
2. one roo from BCMxCX over 6 BCMxCX hens
3. one roo from BxBE over 6 BCMxCX hens
and we'll see where we go from there. 9 lbs at 13 weeks is heavier than I wanted. But the shape, feathering, activity, and foraging/feed consumption are great. Also they are super sweet and manageable.

I didn't keep track of eggs incubated vs hatch but I would say at minimum I got 90% hatch. I got rid of the BCM roo as the girls started going downhill. But put their last eggs in the bator anyway; surprise, Mr mellow Brahma they were in with after BCM was gone had had his way with them

so I have 2-4 BxCX chicks to play with as well.

By the way , I dont necessarily buy the 3rd white genotype ; and checked the calculator and was wrong on the F2 colors . They should be a variety of birchens instead of partridges and duckwings . [ I wasn't smart enough to know that black copper is a form of birchen . ]
Finally ........... how do those Brahma X Buckeyes look ?

Teh great hatch rate is due to my friend who owns a small hatchery adn let's me put my eggs in his professional incubators . . . I HATE trying to hatch on my own.
as I said the BCM x CX turned out basicly white, a few single black feathers here and there and one greyish white bird.
The B x BE chicks are white with blck brahma markings.
the B x CX are currently yellow fuzz with the black brahma marking coming in on wings and tails. One is HUGE I have high hopes that it is a good roo.
I haven't paid much attention to the BxBE's yet, hatch rate was 100% adn they are beautiful birds, but not sure if they're going to be meatie enough. Still considering a cornish or an aseel but want to give everyone a little more grow time before I make a solid decision.
