Coming along very well, I am to the point where I need to be now to get these last 3 hatches grown for parent breeding stock, and that should allow me to start letting some of my close friends have a few and kick this thing into high gear.

My breeders of my own line of meaties.

Top picture, far left, is what I visualized in a straight Cornish/CX cross.............................. one I've yet to succed at.

Today I tossed all 39 eggs of my Cornish or CX crosses due to hatch Saturday; they were all clears. Stupid roosters.

Anybody want to volunteer to come rub some rooster bellies?

Also, every one of the shipped Coronation Sussex eggs were clear.

Of 84 eggs, 30 went to lockdown.

I sold several dozen hatching eggs to a neighbor. He told me he hatched a white chick from one of them. Unless its a sport albino, it has to be from that big CX roo I've never got a chick from. I think I'm going to try to swap him out of it.

Bad luck Steve,
Is it still to cold for your roosters?
Did the person you bought the Coronation Sussex eggs from test for fertility before shipping?
Good luck on getting the white chick back.

The CX is just too big to mount in the proper position, and now crippled to boot. The Dark Cornish are built wrong and too clumsy, but may get better with time.

The Coronations pullets were just started laying for her, never tested, and a last minute decision of mine to choose for this Easter hatch........................ I'm getting more soon as fertility picks up.

As for the white chick, the guy is begging me to set a price on my white "Aracana" eggs [no matter how many times I've explainedthe difference, he still says EE/Ameraucana/Araucana are the same]. I think I'm holding aces, but will probably have to get willing to let eggs from show winners go to a guy who is incapable of learning the difference between an EE and anything else [and going to need a little jack thrown in on this swap].

Steve : You can still achieve your breeding goals and still have the off spring be able to produce naturaly but you gotta get started first, and that would be to AI. I have been working on my technic all summer and have hit my stride on the procedure where I am very confident every time on both the guy's and the girls to complete the transfer. Anyway give it some thought it may give your project the shot in the arm your looking for.

Sorry Katy, I don't know how I missed your post.

Actually, I'd a felt worse if a lot of my eggs developed since only one of those I sold did. I'll be working on getting those Cornish seperated soon; cut it down so there's only two or three hens for each roo, get them on grass, and hoping to see fertility jump then. You and Yotetrapper will get replacements then.

I'm feeling pretty good physicly, better than I have in two months. The influenza and bronchial infection are both gone now. I was told by a young lady here at BYC to ask my doctor about an old time medication called tessalon perles. He wrote a prescription for it, I stopped the uncontollable coughing, the bronchial infection cleared overnight. I still have a cough from sinus/allergy; but it no longer triggers the bad coughing fits that would leave me unconscious and kept my bronchial tubes infected. Tessalon nearly completly numbs the airways to your lungs.................... stops reflexive coughing almost instantly. Almost no bad side effects from the tessalon; just a warning to swallow the capsuls [actually called perles] quickly, if they dissolve in your mouth or throat they will cause numbness there and lead to choking. You women here at BYC sure take good care of me, and none of you try to tell me how many dogs or chickens I can have, or that I need to come home every night, or at least call if I'm not coming home.

On the down side, none of you feed my dogs or chickens so I have to come home nearly every night anyway.
