Thanks for all the answers. At what age can you take them off the heat? I know that probably depends on where you live, but it's been in the 60's here during the day...

So, it depends a bit on feather cover, and yes, on where you live.

I'm in OK ... my 5 week old BOs are feathered and probably need no heat now. I'll wait until this week's cold overnight is done (tonight) before turning off the lamp.

Since mine are still in the house till Sat. I took the Red 250 watt back to the feed store and went to Lowes and bought a 85 watt Red Flood Light bulb. It will give them enough heat to see us through for a few more weeks of cilly temps and enough light that they won't freak out when they are in the big girl coop at night, since they have not been in complete darkness yet.
