Red legs after scaly leg mites?!

My hens have a case of scaly leg mites so we decided to treat it naturally by scrubbing their feet w/white vinegar then slathering it w/coconut oil. after a few days, we noticed a little bit of red coming in on their scales. what is it? Is it an allergic reaction?

Stop the vinegar and use vaseline or olive oil. The vinegar is probably burning raw tissue under the scales after scrubbing.

You souldn't scrub the legs, It's very easy to break scales off.
Vaseline mixed with Betadine gel works well. Coat legs well every night for a week.
Do the same again two weeks later,
