Or (Red dyed runny poop?). All of them seem fine but this is wieird!!!! Does anyone have experience feeding chicks with beet greens or such stuff, and what color would poop be?

EDIT PART ADD ON------->>one of the chickens was sleeping and puffed up so I removed her and she was cold..I warmad her and gave her garlic and some aeromycin-she is wrapped in a towel and down jacket----I now see she is pooping RED BLOOD CLOTS!!!! I threw out a head of lettuce and yes you would get runny poops LOL! If you never had that red in it before prior to feeding them red lettuce, then no worries. If you already have red in their poops, then you got a problem...cocci or worms.

It will take care of itself in a day or two depending how much each bird ate it. Sometimes I add bread or crackers to slow the runs. Remember lettuce is high in water...

Thank Ewe!!!!!

if what you have been giving is the bagged salad mixes..
I gave this to my chickens and they did get the runs.
I don't give it anymore..and have gone back to using fresh greens.
tho I give very little lettuce.

I editted the top of this with further information that just happened today I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. At first it seemed like the poop was liquid and beet colored now its much worse. You suppose lettuce was contaminated?
Thanks

Not sure what to tell you...
When mine get the runs for any reasno I toss a hand full of dry old fashioned oatmeal flakes in the pen "NOT INSTANT"

I also wonder if a bit of yogurt might help calm her guts.
even just a few bites mixed in some layer crumbles.
OR the oat meal..

GOOD LUCK

Is it blood? If it is, and now they are puffing up, sounds like they may have cocci, if so gotta treat with amprol or sulmet quick as cocci kills fast. Cocci is from soil so if that was the case, it would have been a coiciendence with the letticue.

A fecal float test at the vet can tell you for sure. Clotted blood sounds like cocci though.

There is a good chance it is cocci BUT
I've experienced bloody poop several times with my flock. It has happened
randomnly and at different ages. I have yet to lose a single birds or even
have one show any symptoms. It first happened when I happened to be
feeding them a treat of older bird seed. I stopped the seed and made sure
grit and shell was ALWAYS available. The blood stopped.

It happened again to a group I had in my brooder. I did my best to seperate
the ones with bloody poop but this proved difficult.

We haven't seen any blood for several months now with the exception of Jimmy,
our mental Buff roo. I think he just gave himself an ulcer or something. He has
since stopped the red poo and is doing ok with the flock.

Conclusion:
Get a fecal test done by a vet to detect cocci.
Make sure they have plenty of clean grit, shell, and water.
Watch them for other symptoms.

Last thought: Another thing I did when this first happened was to remove
all food for 18 hours. I just gave them water and grit. I'm not sure if this helped
but the bloody poo did go away.

Hope this helps...
