red mite

hello,

im looking for some help reference hydrated lime painted on the inside of the coop to help prevent red mite.does anyone have any other sugestions that may help us as we have found them and thinking of stripping the coop down to the bare frame and starting again....thanks all

How bad is the infestation? It seems pretty drastic to rip it all down and start again. I have a constant battle with them but if I give all the birds ivermectin drops 3 or 4 times per year and change the shavings and spray the coops with red mite spray regularly it seems to keep them at bay. If I slack then they come back with a vengence but it is possible to keep on top of them.
