red mucusy stool

At least one of our 6 week old chicks has red mucusy stool. Is this ok?

Chances are it's just intestinal lining which is fine. I researched when my chicks had red in their poo and found the poop link. So here you go:

Most likely, it's Coccidiosis. Need Corid or Sulmet ASAP. That's the usual age for cocci. Have they had contact with the soil?

they haven't been outside yet, too cold. Could it still be cocci?

Has it happened more than once? And, are you feeding them medicated chick starter? If not, like Speckled Hen said, it's probally cocci. You can pick up corid at Rural King and put that in their water. Also I've heard you can give them Yogurt along with the meds. It helps keep the bacteria from attaching to the gut lining.
