Red numbers Read alerts for article not going away when I read

Starting yesterday when I read the new comments on this article, the alerts number doesn't change.
Android phone, chrome browser.
I tried restarting the phone

It is nice that the number stays for unread posts though.

So if you open one of the articles using the link in the respective alert, it doesn't mark the alert as read?
I also noticed an issue where alerts aren't automatically marked as read when the alerts menu is opened, even the set preferences say that they should be marked as read, so I reported the issue.

I'm having the same issue as @Molpet ...comments to an article are not clearing even when opening the article.

I'm clicking on the 'mark read' link to clear them from my alert queue.

I too am having this oddity. I shall try to find the method stated above for forcing the alert to clear after I post this...

Situation has been visible for me on these to threads since the posts occured this weekend IIRC. I too have power cycled my phone twice by full battery drain too.
