Red patches on legs. Anyone know what this is?

Here is a photo of my 8 yr old isa brown hen. I thought the raised scales were just due to old age, now I'm thinking mites, and feeling like really bad chookie owner!

Yes, that's mites...it happens, no biggie, just coat their legs and feet completely with vaseline for about 3 days. Those raised scales will fall off and new leg skin will be there. Not to be nasty but sometimes after those days just rubbing those poo scales, you can rub them off...I know it sounds nasty, but new skin will be there and your birds WILL love you for it.
