Red pullet with dark legs and a single comb...what breed?

She's not a Red Ranger. At 14 weeks, she is too small for a meat bird.

She is an odd one. I agree.

She looks like a Production Red that got the wrong leg color. That can happen.

According to Murray website the Whiting true blue can have various leg colors with varying plumage colors. So she could be a whiting true blue, wait for that egg, and be sure to update us on what you discover..:pop:D

This is the only decent pic I have of her as a chick.

I certainly don't disagree that she could be a Whiting True Blue, I would be pleasantly surprised for sure! The fact that I was suppose to receive 1 free rare chick and received a Golden Laced Wyandotte and a Blue Cochin (although maybe that one isn't technically "rare") I'd be surprised to receive another "rare" breed. If I did I guess it was my lucky day! I have heard/read that the Whiting True Blue tends to be a little more flighty/aggressive though and she is not that way. Is that accurate? Or do they widely vary since they are a hybrid?

Thanks everyone!

I suppose that could be possible but I would think it would be pretty unlikely since she came from a reputable hatchery. Yes, at least it is a pullet! :D

Production red with "off" color legs would be my guess. I've actually seen people post hatchery buff Orps with leg tint so it wouldn't shock me at all.

UPDATE: The only thing I can rule out with any certainty is Whiting True Blue. She is laying brown eggs :)
She will just have to remain a mystery :) That's ok though!

Just checked Murray McMurray website. They've added what they are calling Whiting True Greens. "Hens are reddish to chestnut colored and on the light side." Fits your mystery girl. Green layers often produce brown laying offspring.
