Red pyle EE roo or Red Sex link X EE roo

I dunno, I'm just not seeing Phoenix in him. At this point, the hatchery has given you such mixed birds that I wouldn't even be surprised if they didn't know they had Yokos :p.

lol your probly right. there not on the sales list. maybe they are working on them and have the yokos pen by the EEs lol.

Steen, he was about 10 months in that photo so yes, he'd filled out a bit by then. But, his tail was never held straight out like your boy does -- it always stuck up at that same angle. And his legs were never that long compared to his body. I've always presumed my EE was part Leghorn because of the fast feathering and relatively light build. He still flies well at 16 months, too. But, there's no telling, really. There are lots of birds with "wildtype" and lots of birds with dominant white which is why a red pyleish look isn't exactly uncommon in mixed chickens. I can also see the same bit of black bleed in your boy's tail that my rooster has. His is more pronounced and patchy now, BTW.

Ya only time will tell i guess. His legs look even longer as of today haha. His wing feathers seem to be getting red in them. A really small amount right now but just like the red Pyle is shown on the first page of this post. my girls look red Pyle. I'm wondering if there just breeding some red Pyle OEG and other OEG like the B.B red back into there EE gene pool. Maybe they were just boosting a wakened blood line last year and will be pulling all the off color ones out of there pens for the next years hatch. And i just got lucky with my Mutt.

Now im thinking they are just trying to make Red Pyle EE. More and more he looks just like it. One of the females is even getting red color in the ends of the wings just like my male is. In the 1st pic of my roo Hdowden posted as "your ee" you can barly see one wing feather starting to get the red in it.. And now that hes older hes got the red in the wing for sure not as defined yet or as red as the one Hdowden posted a pic of (probly a champion

). ill re post the pic below. My yellow legs just throw things off and im thinking maybe its recessive somewhere in his genes and they just came out in him. Kinda how you get lavenders ameraucana from a all black bird lav/black ameraucana splits,

Okay question on Red Pyle:

Could you use a Red Sex Link rooster ro get to Red Pyle?

If so, What color to breed to, Red?

I wouldn't recommend it at all. They're a hybrid, and by nature will have wildcard genetics. They will throw unpredictable colors and patterns into the next generation, no real predictable rhyme or reason. It would be much better to start off with a purebred red pyle bird that you know will throw his pattern forward.

And thanks for posting updated pics Steen! He's gorgeous!

Does anyone know how to. Tell if a red pyle 5 day old chick is hen or roo all of my chicks are white with a little yellow on the head
I dont think there is a way. you have to wait for them to grow up. males would get the male type feathers and reder larger combs and wattles faster than the pullets.
