Red Roost Inn - An old style hen house tractor -PICS

to save money on ours we got all the hinges and closures from the local habitat for humanity store. A great price too for solid old hinges. Jean

I love the red as well. That is a really cool coop.

I was thinking about ordering an arc tractor for my 3 little banties however, after seeing yours, I think it would fair better in the Pacific NW because of the rain.

Thanks for sharing.

P.S. If you get a chance, could you give a basic supply list for us girls with limited skill?

Oh, it probably took a couple dozen chocolate chip cookies, some meat loaf, about a 12 pack of pop to get them to build it.

Oh!!! you meant the building supplies.... yes, I'll have hubby do that tonight. I don't have a good idea of cost because we bought the coop materials at the same time, it's all mixed together.

So cool!

Okay, DH came up with the materials list:

We used
24 2"x2"x8' pine (this was the framing and "windows" It was also framing support for inside doors)
3 sheets of 1/4 plywood (the was the roof and the walls of the building
2 2"x3"x8' pine (these were the roosts & could be 2x4 if you wish)
36" hardware cloth (this was the floor of the "house"
chicken wire
4 sets of hinges and latches (one on house door, one on top door, one on side, one on front -- this could be reduced)
one gallon rustic barn red paint

Oh, and pop/cookies/meat loaf to keep the teenagers working and Dad happy never hurt either!
