Red skin and missing feathers on underbelly and around vent! HELP!

My BFF's chickens are missing their feathers from around their keel bone, down to their underbelly. They also are missing feathers around their vents. The skin is very red and raw looking where there are no feathers. What is happening?

Can you post some photos - I understand they aren't yours but photos always tell a story:)

Also what breed are they supposed to be?

LOL I just saw it was "active" (first post in the ER forums!) didn't even pay attention to the dates:lau I suppose someone posted asking for help, let's see.....oh! @Lnzsmith asked a question, but I see they started a new post which is probably best so they can get information for their specific problem:) https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/definitely-mites-now-what.1208108/

Hi there, hoping maybe this will renew the thread. I suspect mites with our old lady Buff, who has always been kind of weak seeming and definitely less assertive than her best friend Bonnie, who sadly was stolen by we think a fox a week ago. But it is November in Missouri, how can I treat her for mites at night when it's 40 degrees or less at night? Because we have a couple of new chickens in the coops she's been living in our unheated sunporch, but we are integrating gradually...

Hey Lnzsmith... you could look at Deltamethrin to deal with mites. It is nontoxic if birds ingest it, but I wouldn’t advise they breath it. You can get in dust or liquid. Or some permethrin.

I have been treating my chickens with Diatomaceous Earth in 40 degree weather so it should be fine. I am now at week 2 out of 4 for the treatment and it seems to be improving. Good luck with getting your birds parasite free (Don't forget to clean the bedding and treat this area too - and nesting boxes).

1 chicken or the whole flock? Could be as simple as a broody hen or mottling.. Could be some parasite. Would need more information. Are they acting normal eating drinking ect?
Yes acting normal. I use salve but its still there can i use dawn or peroxide. Few feathers are missing there. She ats
