Red Star x Red Star Chicks

Can you tell me what breed she possibly is descended from based on the genetic make up you are stating? I am in the medical field but only have basic genetics training. She was hatched from a grocery store egg I wrote to the egg producer to ask what breeds they use but they never responded. Photos on their website show a red sex link but as you know this could be many different combinations of birds.😊🙏

If it's a white egg she probably is/has leghorn

I doubt leghorn. She hatched from a very large brown egg. I suspect Rhode Island red and Delaware cross as the red sex link heritage.

I have a chicken that is a product of a red sex link crossed with a red sex link. She is all white and a lovely bird. As other posters have stated the sex linked trait is only predictable in the first generation. I expected her to be white with some red leakage over her shoulders but she ended up completely white, slightly cream colored.View attachment 2321202
She’s gorgeous. :love

I, too, recently had some unexpected coloration with my chicks lol I hatched 4 chicks and they ended up 2 white and 2 black! One of the white ones actually ended up splash technically because she has a little “splash” of color on her back right before her tail lol they are from a Lavender Orpington rooster and White Leghorn and Easter Egger hens. The two EEs are black laced red/orangey color and a kind of peachy/gold with blue or lav type base so I expected some sort of red or lavender chicks or lacing or something but no 😂🤣 I had read white was dominant so wasn’t too surprised the WL ended up white.

Thanks, I just love her! :) I spent a fortune on fancy breed hatching eggs and shipping this year and she came from a $5 dozen of fertilized grocery store eggs! Go figure...
Yes, chicken color genetics are fascinating for sure and it takes a degree in genetics to fully understand I believe! If you have photos of the chicks I would love to see them!:love

That’s amazing! :love mine are second generation. :) I hatched my rooster in November and then these babies hatched the end of July from my own hens I bought as chicks. :) they are being raised by a broody. Actually the first one quit after a few weeks and their “aunt” took over LOL and unfortunately the rooster passed away about a week after the chicks hatched so they’re extra special now. ❤️

Here’s some pictures. Sorry there’s soo many. couldn’t decide LOL

The ones used on highly productive cross like RedStars(ISA Brown, Hyline Brown) are actually RIR(their own line) and White Plymouth Rocks based on Dominant White Silver Columbian.

The Reciprocal Cross(White rock Rooster x RIR Hen) is called Amberlinks

Thank you so much @nicalandia for your help. As always! Makes sense, most people when they see my little pullet guess that she is a white rock.:)
