My neighbor has heard crowing. This is his flock. He is not sure who the culprit is. I hope I can rule out the hen that is two years old and laying eggs, the rest are about 10 weeks old, red stars and barred rocks. Let play Who's the Rooster!!!!

Barred Rock 1

Barred Rock 2

Barred Rock 3

Thanks, I can't tell. Any insight would be great!

I would have to disagree, I have barred rocks and number two looks like a pullet to me, I could be wrong and it would be too young to crow just yet anyways. I have roos BR they're around 14 weeks and still not making any noise. There are cases where a hen will crow. Just throwing that out there.

Usually the BR roos are lighter with more bars too

None of those youngsters look like roos to me. Unless they're not pure, as I'm going by color. But even then, if a bird's crowing, it'll have some obvious differences from a female.

That is one nasty looking hopefully molting hen, but I honestly think I see hackle feathers?

Older hens can crow, that may be what's happening.

Or maybe your neighbor has a neighbor who has a rooster.

i would say 2 also he does not have the black leg wash that most hens have if he is a roo he will get caught crowing sooner or later
