Red stars and Black stars

That's a sweet story:) where do people/ you rescue them from?I would like to aswell
mine direct from the local meat market where they sell cheap, one thrid of the price of "Criolla" hen.. basically people dont think much of the these spent hens, they rather pay much more for hens that dont look like production type birds... but for me they are a genetic gold mine..

here I buy from this lady the man on the background is buying a spent red sexlinks at total cost of 2 dollars..(you can see criolla hens in the back)

now these customers are hand weighting "Criolla" hens, these hens can cost up 7 dollars but most go for 6

KingR0o5t3r - The best bet for rescues would be asking around your area. Our local humane society also has rescued chickens occassionally. Try flea markets, craigslist and other rescue organizations. We even have horse rescue organizations that will often see other animals that need good homes. If the word gets out you are looking to rescue people will find you. :)

Nicalandia:\
Could you post a picture of a "Crillo" hen?
Never seen or heard of one.
a Criollo hen is just a hen that has been raised on the backyard for many generations, and lack any relation to production type red hens or leghron blood.. they are said to tast better because they free range all day long. while the production type hens are said to tast not so good because all they eat is concentrates... but these are folklore tales, both taste as good... but people pay up to 4 times as much for a criolla hens(of any color)

as the Holidays get near, we see more gallinas "Criollas" been sold on the markets and on the street, check these on out...

I didnt purchase any of them because I´m on the look out for Wildtype hens, and he didnt have one at the time
