Red-tail I pulled out of someones chicken coop.

This doesn't inspire me to get bird netting; getting birds of any sort out of it doesn't appeal.

I have had to extract three birds from the stuff over about 5 years. The netting preventing the loss of a lot more chickens an that.

One Great-horned Owl equals five hawks of any sort when it comes to labor and risk of damage to you when extracting. The raptors to not make job easier as a rule.

I totally agree that big pens are best covered in netting; I don't have big pens.
So far, I've managed to restrain myself to the available coop space, and not built more coops and runs in another area. The current case of 'chicken math' here is bad enough!

Are you a wildlife rehaber? I believe it’s illegal to have them if you don’t have a license, even if you only had him for a few hours.

I’m actually getting my license at the moment since I just recently took a job at a raptor sanctuary.
My assumption is someone that is a falconer has some formal training and is registered by the USFWS as such and able to keep approved raptors under approved conditions. You are jumping the gun. Keeping birds legally is not solely the realm of rehabbers; at least I hope not.
