I'd been putting it off for too long, tbh. Him attacking me when I was 'too close' to the chicks was the last straw in a haystack of straws.

I don't blame you at all. What breed was he? I'm just thinking if mine turn out aggressive, what does one do with bantams, other than rehome? They're too small for a family meal, I would think.

He was a standard-sized barnyard mix. I'm surprised at how little meat there was. He was about 50% feathers. I thought about rehoming him, but decided against it. I'd feel terrible if he injured someone else.

If he were any smaller, I'd probably cook him up and feed him to my dogs, back to the flock, or freeze the meat to add to another dish.

Freezing the meat to add to a casserole or soup was what I thought may be best as well. I'm with you, I could never rehome a dog I thought might bite. And I wouldn't feel okay doing it with a rooster I knew might hurt anyone either.

I also worry about aggressive roosters being used in cock fighting.
 
I'm in the process of marinating the meat now. I planned to inject it with a marinade, but I must've toss my injector . . ? Now the meat is sealed in a gallon sized ziploc with the gravy. We skinned the bird and cleaned it thoroughly and I'm still finding bits of feathers everywhere. This bird is determined to be a pita even in death.

I have to joke about it so I'm less bothered by it.
