Redinator's First Hatch-Along w Bonus Broody: And Everything Thereafter

It's only been a week and the Black Jersey Giants broke quarantine. 😷

They were apparently able to get over a 4ft high fence. I know chickens can clear a 4ft fence, but the rest of my chickens never bothered. Of course, there wasn't anything on the other side of the fence for them to bother trying.

They're getting along fine with the other chickens, they have plenty of space to avoid each other, places to hide, and there's several feeders and waterers scattered around the yard. I'm just hoping they don't get sick, or get the other chickens sick. šŸ™„
Haha oh no! That sounds about right.

I can tell you that I messed up and bought 4 chickens on impulse before I really had a good quarantine spot. About a week is all we got too. And everyone did fine. I know it was a risk and a stupid idea. And I won't do it again. But I bet all yours will be fine.

Now I know I need to extend the height of the 4ft fence/gate dividing the main yard from the side yard. I got the Giants from Adam, so I know he takes good care of his birds.

I'm more concerned about microbes in the soil since a batch of chicks had Coccidiosis a few months ago. Adam fed them All Flock, but since they've been here they've gotten the medicated chick feed. I just hope they got enough of it in the last week to prevent them from getting sick.

It's actually probably better this way. I checked the dates of when I was supposed to start integrating the Giants, Nov 3 . . . the same week the chicks would hatch. That was poor planning on my part and the chickens fixed the schedule, lol.
