I learned that the hard way, but plenty of treats and patience usually works, lol.Good luck! Chickens are so stubborn sometimes. They hate change!!!

They were gorgeous! Also intelligent, independent yet loyal and loving, fierce yet friendly - not quite dogs but great companions.I bet those are gorgeous dogs!
Come on, Sweety amd chicks! We can do this!Could you come tell her that?
Instead of moving them to the bigger run with the chickhut she took them to roost in the old run. At least they're making progress.
I knew it wouldn't happen overnight (but I hoped she'd cooperate), which is why I'm starting now. I have roughly (chicken math calculations: 18 days + 2 weeks = 32 days) just over a month to get this figured out.
I bet! My husband's family had a timber wolf and husky hybrid when he was a kid. He loved that dog. They were gorgeous! Also intelligent, independent yet loyal and loving, fierce yet friendly - not quite dogs but great companions.
What hatchery are you looking at?Oh, boy . . I shouldn't have lookedThe second date they'd be available would be perfect though . . .

Hoover'sWhat hatchery are you looking at?
Meyer still has some, but soon looks to be almost entirely meat birds or ducklings. Cackle doesn't look to ship over the winter, which I understand. Ideal still has a lot available. I was looking at them yesterday.
Sounds like a reasonable plan to me.Ok a few things would need to go smoothly before I decide to place the order.
1) Sweety and her chicks would need to move over to the large run so the 9x18 run will be available to raise the chicks. I won't force it though, just gently encourage her, lol.
2) I have 26 eggs set; if half or more look viable when I candle on the 21st I'll hold off on placing the order. If less than half (13) look viable, well . . I planned on having 26, so . . . . 28 (with 15 I'd order) wouldn't be unreasonable.
This is why we get along so well, lolSounds like a reasonable plan to me.
