Its about 2 inches high, and its length is maybe a lil under a foot long.I sometimes over feel a lil bit,but it still feeds that many birds.
Chickens:22
Ducks:6

I let my birds eat how much they want. I do only use 15-16% protein feed and they are not constantly at the feeders. Never had fat lazy chickens. They peck about and behave chicken like. Depending on breed studies say 1/4 to 1/3 pound of feed consumed per bird per day without supplemental foraging. And this is what my birds consume with unfettered access.

Your chickens look happy and healthy. I wouldn't worry to much. It is technically winter. A chickens egg is cued by light hitting a gland in their eye. My own chickens are laying less now and I would never encourage putting a light in their coop to force them to unnaturally lay. Look for signs from them. Comb color, brightness of feathers, etc. Just keep an eye on em.

Why would you not want them to lay with lights?

All my research says it does no harm.

Did I miss some science proven information?

Will they be fine on just layer pellets they dont free range at all cause dogs. If they are out of cycle how long can i expect this to get back in cycle
Oh it can take a few weeks to get back in position to lay, butafter it,they'll be laying like egg machines ,non stop.
