Redwood Incubators - Information, help, for sale and wanted

I have posted that idea as a possible fix in the past. I think the plywood would be a good idea in order to keep the air flow going as designed. Maybe use even a cookie sheet or large sheet cake pan or two on top, as humidity is controlled by the surface area of the water exposed to the air flow. I have the original pan in mine and it is divided into three compartments so that the humidity can be adjusted.
You are right on too in thinking to put something on the floor of the incubator. Multiple layers of plain old newspaper will work fine. Might need to lay a stick or something on top if it wants to blow around. I can't remember how strong the air flow is down there.
I use a piece of plywood in this space also,as the pan that i have only fits falf way.I found a 1" deep baking pan to put on top of the wood portion. If i need more humidity during lock down,i use a wick pad as used in the sportsman incubators.
I use paper towels to line the trays and tinfoil in the bottom. This makes it easy at cleanup time.

TY at first i was like would i use it ... need info then did massive search and finally got 3 really nice manuals and found a guy that has parts for all the Red Wood Machines so i am getting the origional hydrometers/thermometers fan and heater .

also he is pretty cool .

Oh that would be awesome; mine has the bracket but is missing the hydrometer and thermometer; would love to have one! Could you tell me how to get in touch with him?

I loaded up our FarmMaster 1200 yesterday with about 6 dozen eggs. No, it's not very full but I could spread out the egg types in various trays. ftw: does the paper toweling on the tray bottoms interfere with the air flow at all?We found an 18 x18 ceramic tile at Lowes to put on the water tray rails. I have a rimmed cookie sheet on top of that and ours seems to require 3 pts water every 2 days to keep the humidity above 20%. I had water in it and running for the week before setting eggs to soak the wood. The plan is to add sponges for hatching humidity top and bottom.
We threw a quilt over it too, and discovered that one area of the side at the top lid feels MUCH warmer-- like there is a leak. There is no sign of any gasketing there so we aren't sure we want to add some. No signs of air leakage at the door despite missing the bottom hinge. So far, so good. Made a turning chart so we know who pulled/pushed the slides and when. It does not seem to lose much,if anything, when we open the door to use the turning sliders.
I didn't get any new hygrometer wick ordered so we are relying on 2 battery powered hygrometer/temp displays. I don't care for the original hygrometer setup although it seems intact. Placement just seems wrong compared to all the pictures I see online.
