We are getting ready to go out of town for a long weekend. I have three brooders going:

1. 6 almost three week old Button Quail
2. 21 - five day old Button Quail
3. 5 - five day old Coturnix Quail

I want to combine some of these so it will be easier to take care of while I am gone. The chicks in brooder #1 and #3 are close to the same size. The #3 Coturnix have started getting their wing feathers. Would it be possible to put them in with the #1 Button Quail?

So many babies!!!!! I just love it!

I have had my button quail "pippin" in with 22 coturnix quail since Pippin was born...pippin was born first however, today he's 10 days old, hes' a tiny bit bigger than my normal sized coturnix quails who are 5 days old.

The button quail breeder acted pretty digusted/shocked hwen she found out i was brooding him with that lil flock of coturnix, but i honestly see nothin wrong with it as logn as they are around the same size, and even then whent hey're not as long as they aren't pecking the heck out of the lil guy i dnot see the problem with it...PIppin IS the cool head in the group...he just does what he wants and the coturnix chicks do what they want no fighting no pecking none of that...though the coturnix sometimes pick no eachother...never once as pippin been in or started hte fight...though he technically could, he's as i said at this point a tad bigger than them...

here lookie (he's the darkest one with all the wing feathers looking at the camera...) :

the only thing i suggest, is put them in NOW, the way you want them to be, and watch them on these days before you leave so you can see wha the level of attention they give to eachother...probably not much...least from what i've seen so far of mine.

by the way...my jumbo coturnix are hatching now, they are the size right now, of my 5 day old coturnix so they are TOO going in the brooder with them once their fluff dries out
