Regarding NO light in winter

I go for maximum egg production through flock management and not by using artificial means to extend laying. The cost of electricity adds on to the overall cost of my eggs. I already have some pretty expensive eggs because I built a brand new coop this year, so I don't need to add to that.

Besides the older girls need the break.
 
No light here either. I agree with letting Mother Nature do her thing. I have 2 chickens who lay every day without fail, always have, no matter what the weather. The other girls are mroe sporadic and I am ok with that. I agree they need a break and to run electricity to our coop would be a rediculous expense. I have soalr lights out there so whe I go out to close up for the night, I can see but beyond that... its the light of the moon
