Regular sized eggs plus one tiny one?

Any thoughts on why one of my hens randomly laid a tiny egg? I have 4 hens—one recently passed from Marek’s disease 😞, and one has also stopped laying. One of the ones who is still laying laid this tiny egg today, which is abnormal for her. The sizes are normally very similar each day. Could it be the stress from the other chicken passing maybe, or from me cleaning out the coop and run recently or something? Thoughts?

It is probably just an oops. The internal egg making process is pretty complicated. Occasionally something goes wrong. That is probably a yolk-less egg, all whites. Or it may be just a yolk, no whites. The way I look at it we are all allowed an occasional oops as long as it does not become regular. If you start to get them regularly then get back to us and we can look into it closer, but I don't worry about that at all.

Interesting!! I haven’t heard of a fairy egg, so I’m curious to look that up. But I’m glad this is kind of a thing that just happens sometimes. Thanks for your thoughts, @Fluffy_Butt_Hutt and @Ridgerunner ! I appreciate your input 😊
