Hi there! I'm just having trouble finding help for this one, these are my first ducks. We got our boys last spring. They were the last four at the store and there was no issue until mating season. Three Pekin and one Rouen, so it went kinda bad for our smallest. He's doing fine but was missing a lot of feathers and was starting not to eat as well as sustaining a couple injuries to his flippers(just the nails it seemed.) He's been separated about two weeks and we have ordered female ducklings that won't be introduced through a divider for at least another three weeks.

My question is, should I bring one of the three pekins up to stay with him while we get and brood the female ducklings, or will he be okay being by himself that long? He gets human interaction at least three times a day to be let out of the coop in the morning, fed in the evening, and closed in at night; but I know that's not the same as being with the others.

You should try to give him some company. Ducks seem to just do better with a buddy. They like the company of another duck, and although I'm sure you give him attention he likes when you do, you are not their 24/7 like a buddy would be. You don't have to house them together, but where they are close and can see each other I would think would be enough.
