Even though I knew it was possible, I always saw it as a repair for accidentally cracked eggs that were already close to hatch... you're as surprised as I am that this is working from day 1.

This gives me hope for my cracked silkie/serama egg! She’s been in the bator for 3 days now and is the only silkie/serama egg showing development. I only just noticed the hairline cracks, I’m debating sealing them.

Considering this little one has so far made it all the way to day 14 I would say sealing the crack is the way to go! I have cracked an egg by accident in the past, the crack went unnoticed for an unknown amount of time and I lost it to bacteria.

If it's a hairline crack then natural nail polish might be a better option for you. I've seen several people using it successfully lately. Wax worked well for Crackles because it was a large crack.

While I'm rooting for Crackles and Sitcky, I am most fascinated by Rocket. His/Her egg shape is long enough that I cannot help but wonder what kind of chick will get out of it o.o

My understanding with oblong eggs is that chicks struggle to turn properly and can't hatch successfully. I have a lot of experience assisting but I'm hoping I won't have to. I feel like hands off would be the best example for the experiment.

There's a Rocket 2.0 in the incubator as well! Not quite as oblong but still a little torpedo. We shall see what they all look like next week!

Glad I actually looked through the threads and found this, I'm all caught up and it's fascinating. I'm most interested in Rocket as well since one of the Marans eggs I got is the same and I was hesitant to put it in the bator, but if I didn't I would have been down to 2 Marans, so I'm giving it a chance

@CluckNDoodle - The inexperienced backyarder that I am thought the chick would be too small inside the shell to properly reach up & peck open the round side of the long egg. Kind of like a five foot tall person trying to touch a seven foot tall ceiling; they're two feet short of the goal xD

Are you going to band your Rockets if the two of them hatch sucessfully?
