I want to thank those who have responded. I tried again last night and the hens let him sleep with them. I checked on him several times at 9, 10, 11 and 1 am he was cuddled next to a hen and chick. But this afternoon the rooster and one of then hens were pecking at him and not letting him eat. so Back insode we go and I am just going to build him his own little palace and take one of the chicks and my most docile hen and relocate them. now if I can get his comb healed. does anyone know if it will regrow.
You could keep the other hatches closer in age to Gump with him, try reintroducing them to the flock when they are grown. He's a cutie that's for sure. Not sure if the comb will 'regrow' but from what I could see & make out, it maybe a 'she'. I know too young to guess but I love guessing just never know if I'm right. Love the coloring...
From what I've read about wing sexing, it has to be done a few days after hatch. It's a test of patience waiting to find out if you'll get eggs or an alarm clock
