Having had both RSLs and BSLs, I prefer the Black Sex Links. They are a prettier bird (in my opinion), and (in my experience) a little more friendly and docile. Also my BSLs laid a little better in cold, winter weather. If you want a standard breed, my Black Australorps were the best of the many breeds I have had (extremely hardy, very friendly and docile, and very good layers of large, brown eggs).
