Remember Shadow? Pics of her & a couple others today

Of course, you're wanting to collect for hatching, they won't cooperate and lay them for you.

As usual!

Hey, Shadow is small, even for a banty Cochin, but I am thinking about putting five eggs under her, all of these being large to jumbo. We found seven under her this afternoon, but I'm not sure she can keep them all warm. What do you think?

I've never had a broody but, I guess I would be cautious and put under her a couple less then she's been covering. Then she should be fine.

Decided she gets five eggs, four BBS Orps and one BR from my oldest BR, Ivy. And we finished the broody pen for her just a little while ago. It is safe enough to be used as an outdoor brooder, too. Check it out in this thread.

****We moved her. She ate, drank, pooped big time, and is now sitting on the five eggs we gave her. She has two from Smoky and two from Skye, both Blue Orps, and one from my oldest BR hen, Ivy, since I have none of Ivy's kids here. Tomorrow is Day One and the Hatch Date is June 1.

They are 38 x 28 on the inside measurements, meaning the 2x4's on the corners are on the outside of that box. The big dog crate that Dusty was in was only 22" wide, so this gives more interior space than that.

Awesome. I must keep that in mind because I would love a couple of those...the first one of these wenches that goes broody is getting baby Suedes under her fluffy butt. Please go broody wenches
