I know it was bad for you, but I really miss the smell of the dark room.
Unfortunately Kodachrome couldn't be home processed. If I remember correctly it was a 23 step process, and mostly done by machine, almost no one did it by hand, if anyone did. But the results were fantastic, clear, sharp, colorful photographs with an incredible shelf life. There are color slides from the 1950 and earlier that are still vivid today.

Why I remember back when tonka trucks were made o metal and drinking from the garden hose was not poisonous.

Back when kids went outside for the whole day!

Ah those were good times.
I had a few Tonkas myself. I used to love "Foose"ing them. I had the nicest looking TT's in the neighborhood.

Oh man :lau
Wild free range children!

Remember roller skates that had skate keys? The kind that you could wear on the actual street with metal wheels.....
My first skateboard had metal wheels. I still have my father's laced up leather boot rink skates though, the ones he wore when he met my mom. They still work fine, and I even wear them skating every now and then. I had to get some newer urethane wheels though, for some reason the rinks don't like the original wood ones.

I remember Atari........ and when it was new on the market.
Heck, I remember taking tests in high school using a slide rule (how many people today even know what one of those are, let alone how to use one?)

Oh, I have a "thing" for iceskates like that. We don't really have iceskating. There was ONE iceskating rink, and it was pretty bad (the ice had corrugations, it was never really smooth). Now there are a couple, but it's not really a "big thing". I used to watch Sonja Henie on the TV. I loved her and I dreamt of having those boot skates and doing all that skating. Sigh. I named one of my chooks after her.

I saw a can of chock full o'nuts coffee at the grocery store the other day...I still remember the theme song from their commercials when I was a kid. Can't forget Madge and her Palmolive commercials, or the one with Mother Nature warning us not to mess with her butter.

Ah those were good times.

We still have all that here.
I bought a metal Tonka truck from the store just last year.
We drink out of the hoses all the time and our kids spend most of the day outside. The little one would spend all day outside if we let him.
Speaking of metal toys though. Last Christmas my son got one of those Peg-perego ride on JD gators. Was thinking man these kids are spoiled when I was that age all we had was the metal pedal cars. He just has to step on the pedal. 2 forward speeds and reverse.

Remember going out bike riding?

You know back when it did not involve loading bikes into cars and driving to a designated bike trail? ..... Back when kids did not have to gear up like hockey goalies....... Way back when folks on bikes had to look out for cars not the other way round.

How about all the catchy songs from commercials??
"Watch it wiggle watch it jiggle ......"
"Big mac , filet-o-fish, quarter pounder French fries......"

So a serious question for us old folks.....
When was the last time you laid in the grass and watched the clouds go by??
