I went to CVS today and found a plug in remote control for a light. Im going to plug in my extension cord in the garage to it tonight and see if it works. It says it works to 50 feet. I have my heat lamp on an extension cord into my attached garage but its still very cold to go out there at midnight to plug it in. THis way I can just step out the door and hit the remote. I hope it works. I know I recently saw a similar thing in a catalog but i cant remember where.

I have one too. The problem for me is that my house is about 100 feet from the coop, which is on the other side through a pole barn wall.

Basically, I have to go down ther and shut it off from a few feet away.

Hope yours works more efficiently.

i just tried it out, I can turn it on and off from the living room. I have it plugged into the garage, which is attached to the house, and run an extension cord from it to the coop.

I put my heat lamp on a thermostat. If it goes below 40 degrees it automatically turns it on. It is a real chicken saver in Alaska...especially if for some reason I could not get home from work. It has not failed all year and I have one of the automatic temperature gauges in the coop and the remote on my windowsill. I am set to go
