Removal of chicks delayed, Problem?

Thanks

chicken chicks can, but not quail. Quail don't have all the reserves like chicken.

Agreed! Chicken folk should not be able post in the quail section. They are chickens after all!

I love the chicken folks, but you don't really know what you are talking about....Please move along

THE YOLK ON GAMEBIRDS IS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR 3 DAYS SUSTENANCE, THEY NEED TO EAT/ DRINK ASAP ONCE DRY AND FLUFFY

I happen to agree with you..Quail yolks are bigger in comparison than chicken egg yolks..

Okay, but they need to get food and water as soon as possible.

And I happen to agree with that also..

I know I did not want to argue with the guy. The yolk plays a large role in a birds ability to survive. In the wild the weather can prevent a gamebird from feeding and a hen will remain on the nest or near the nest and not actively search for food and when they do find food it is most likely not a balanced ration.

Well, everyone that thinks game birds are chickens are WRONG!

Anyone that tells you that they can ship you "Day old quail" + 1-4 days are WRONG.

Anyone serious in raising game birds of any kind should seriously invest in a good incubator! Order hatching eggs. Set your brooders up, and wait for them to hatch. Anyone that tells you that game birds can survive...not to mention thrive after 2-3 days of shipping, has an unsustainable business model!

I'm not going to argue with anyone. Nature will take it's course.

I know I'm not making any friends here, but it is an inherently flawed business model.

and this is why a lot of game bird chicks do not make it "in the wild" between this and predation and loss of habitats a lot of states do not have a wild population

If you do not believe it just leave chicks in the bator for 3 days with out food or water see how that works for you, me I would rather do as I keep doing getting my gamebirds out as soon as they are dry and fluffy and getting them started ASAP

You are right, the difference I believe is the "domestication" of chickens is a lot more pronounced if you will and I am not completely convinced that the absorbed yolk sac is the only contributing factor to a chickens survival without food the first three days they are inherently stronger.
