Removing Roooster Spurs - how did YOU do it?

How many of you have tried this method? How did it work and was it very bloody? Anyone have pictures they can post? It sounds horribly cruel to me....but possibly better than the alternative (rooster soup).

This guy looks like he has done this quite a few times. I'm not sure I would cut them that short, but it looks kinda easy and I like the fact he packs the spur afterwards to stop bleeding, not sure what he's using to pack it with but cornstarch would probably work.

Just givving it a quick twist without softening it up first, does seem a little more violent though. I don't think I'll go that way....
