OK folks. I have to say I am a little bit disheartened. I have dealt with a lame pullet for almost 2 months now and now one of my hens is barely walking. I have had a very difficult time trying to get any medical assistance. Within 4 counties of where I live in eastern NC I finally found a vet that would hear me out with the symptoms of my girls and she thinks it viral, mainly Reovius in poultry.
Out os 10 birds 2 are lame without any other symptoms or injury.
I need medicated food. Any hints? has anyone heard of or dealt with this? many thanks, Elizabeth

I found this:
http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044

It states:
Transmission: The infection spreads rapidly through broiler flocks, but less rapidly in caged layers. Spread is by respiratory and digestive tract routes. The virus is shed in the feces.

Treatment: There is no satisfactory treatment available. With hens, tetracycline, molasses, and oyster shell therapy is helpful.

Prevention: A vaccine is available for use in endemic areas or on endemic farms.
