Repainting Coops... Coordinating Door Color? (Newer Pics, post #47)

Pumpkin for the inner panel? What for the trim? I just stared at that door today. Could leave it as is, could do garnet trim with gold or sunflower yellow inner panel, but hmm, didn't think I'd have this much trouble making a decision. It needs a different color than garnet or dark ivy to really pop.. I may have to finish the rest and then sit and stare some more. There is so much painting to do yet and I'll have to get more paint before it's all over. That garnet takes about 4 coats before it becomes a really solid-looking color.

Oh I had it with the garnet trim on the pop door and a pumpkin inner panel. It was pretty. You kind of have to take into acct that it won't "glow" like this digital color in does.

Oh, thanks. I like them, too. I like to look through the top one, when the bottom is closed, and they are all getting up on the roosts. Now working on another, even larger coop. YEAH ! ! !

I might have to borrow your color scheme, as it does look great!

You know, Amy, I'm thinking about something in the same color family, but more yellow-gold on the inner panel with deep, rich navy blue trim where the white is. Would only need a tiny amt of each color for that.

Kathy, we used to have ponies when I was a kid, but we lived in the city limits so would board them during the week and get them on the weekend. My dad built a huge playhouse with a dutch door that opened out into the pony's pen. Loved that door!

Painted the vent covers garnet rather than the body color that they were previously. I think it works okay. We still have more to do on the 12' end of the coop and the entire back needs paint other than the trim, but at least, the "public face" of the coop is almost done.

Wow it looks great. As small of an area as you are wanting to paint for the pop door you could just get a few bottles of Folk Art acrylic paints.

I actually have some of those, but not sure if I have enough in the proper colors. Didn't even think of that! Thanks for the suggestion. The former owner of my house (well, his family-he was deceased) left lots of pints of paint, and I went to see what colors, but there was only crimson, dark brown and almond. Boy, that man loved almond!Must have been gallons of that color, plus spray paint in almond, appliances in almond, etc, etc.
